Miner Dies at Massey Operation in West Virginia
Another Massey Energy coal miner has died from injuries suffered at one of the troubled company’s West Virginia mines.
State Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training spokeswoman Leslie Fitzwater says the miner died Thursday morning from injuries suffered at Massey’s Pocahontas Mine in Greenbrier County.
Other details were not available.
A company spokesman did not immediately return a telephone message.
Twenty-nine men died in an April 5 explosion at Virginia-based Massey’s Upper Big Branch mine in Raleigh County. The explosion is the nation’s worst coal mining disaster in 40 years.
