Greeley Insurance Agent Accused of Bilking Clients
A Greeley, Colo., car insurance agent is accused of stealing money from clients and forging their insurance cards.
Police say 45-year-old Paula Sylvia Hernandez is suspected of forging cards for 22 clients who paid for car insurance and depositing the $3,456 they gave her into her own account.
Police say one of Hernandez’s clients found out during a traffic stop that his insurance card was fake.
Hernandez told police she began taking money from her job because her boss wasn’t paying her. Her boss told police he fired her because she allegedly stole cash payments for premiums, and took $1,775 of his salary to cover the losses.
Hernandez is free on $40,000 bail and is due in court June 11 on forgery and theft charges.
