Arson Causes $200,000 Damage to Eugene REI Store
The Register-Guard reports a fire started in a trash can near the entrance to REI, an outdoor gear store.
Det. Steve Williams says the fire was likely set by the same person who started a fire in a nearby trash bin just minutes earlier.
Police also found a pile of trash and paper soaked in motor oil outside a warehouse. It was not set on fire but appears to be related to the two arsons.
Police questioned a suspicious man they found under a nearby bridge but released him for lack of evidence.
