Idaho Woman Says Scentsy Stole Idea

June 19, 2012

A southwestern Idaho woman who contends a Meridian-based wickless candle company used her idea for a product line without paying her has filed a lawsuit.

The Idaho Statesman reports Eva Marosvari filed the lawsuit Wednesday in District Court against Scentsy.

Marosvari says she responded to a Scentsy call for ideas in 2009 and pitched a stuffed-animal product line.

She says company managers asked her to develop the idea and included her in discussions, and then marketed the product in 2010 as Scentsy Buddies.

But she says Scentsy lawyers told her the company didn’t pay for ideas. Marosvari’s attorney says Scentsy agreed to pay her for her idea.

Scentsy spokeswoman Susan Rowe says the company is saddened one of its consultants feels legal action is needed to address concerns.
