McDonald’s Stop Made Before Injured Child Gets Treatment
A New Mexico woman is facing child abuse charges after police said she stopped at a McDonald’s before taking her severely injured 3-year old son to the hospital.
KOB-TV reports that 30-year old Stephanie Austin was arrested last week following a bizarre chain of events.
Police say Austin told the hospital staff her son had fallen off a bike. But she later told police that the boy had been run over by an SUV she had left in park while she went inside her home.
Investigators say she cleaned the boy up, and then took him to a McDonald’s to get him a happy meal before taking the child to the hospital.
Officials say the boy was bleeding from the head, arms and legs.
It was unclear if Austin had an attorney.
