Suspect Indicted for Major Arson in Maine Town

A 33-year-old suspect has been indicted on an arson charge arising from an early morning fire in September that left much of downtown Milo, Maine in ruins.

Officials said the indictment Thursday against Christopher Miliano follows a lengthy investigation by the state fire marshal’s office.

District Attorney Christopher Almy said evidence shows that Miliano burglarized Hobknobbers Pub and then set it on fire to cover his tracks. The flames spread to the roof and then to four other buildings on Main Street, burning at least a third of the downtown.

There were no injuries.

Miliano is already in jail, accused of an unrelated charge of aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear Monday in Superior Court.
