Northwest Ohio Flood Study Delay Questioned

Several Ohio members of Congress say they are not happy that the Army Corps of Engineers may wait until 2016 to issue a final report on a flood control plan for the Blanchard River in northwestern Ohio.

Sens. Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown and U.S. Rep. Bob Latta say the timing is unacceptable.

The Courier in Findlay reports that the Army Corps announced Wednesday that tentative plans would be released no earlier than September.

Addressing flooding along the river has become a top priority for Findlay and the surrounding areas.

Five major floods since 2007 have brought millions of dollars in damage to the cities of Findlay and Ottawa.
