Troxel Resigns as Institute’s President and CEO
Terrie E. Troxel, president and chief executive officer of the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America, announced he will resign effective Oct. 31, 2005.
An insurance professional and educator, Troxel became the Institute’s fourth president and CEO in June 1998. During his seven-year tenure, the Institutes delivered nearly 600,000 examinations around the world and the American Institute for CPCU conferred the prestigious Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation upon more than 12,000 insurance professionals in 35 countries.
Among the achievements under Troxel’s leadership, the Institutes developed computerized testing, completed a major restructuring of the CPCU curriculum, revised numerous Insurance Institute of America courses and programs, developed new educational design standards for Institute study materials, launched SMART Study Aids, and most recently, founded the CPCU Institute of Greater China.
In announcing his resignation, Troxel said, “I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their leadership and the Development Fund contributors for their tremendous financial support. I also want to thank the Institute’s professional staff for their extraordinary work and commitment; their accomplishments have built a strong base for future growth.”
He concluded, saying, “I am leaving with deep gratitude to my friends and colleagues here and with solid optimism regarding the organization’s ability to continue fulfilling its mission to provide unrivaled educational opportunities to people involved in risk management and property-casualty insurance.”
The Institute’s Board of Trustees will conduct a national search to choose a new president and CEO. The Board of Trustees has named Peter L. Miller, executive vice president of the Institutes, to serve as interim and acting president and CEO until Troxel’s successor is named.
